Indian Power, Coal, New Energy and Renewable Energy Minister Piyush Goyal said on Wednesday that by 2019, India could become the first country in the world to use only LED products for lighting needs. He said: "In 2019, India will probably become the first country in the world to use 100% LED lighting for lighting."

Goyal made this statement at a memorandum signing ceremony held by the Energy Efficiency Services Corporation of India (EESL) and the three state-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs).

He said: "This will send a strong message to the world that India will honor its commitment and India is sensitive to the adverse effects of global efforts to deal with climate change."

According to Goyal, the new partnership between EESL and the three OMCs will be the main factor for India to become 100% dependent on LED lighting products.

The new partnership allows consumers to buy high quality 9W LED bulbs at Rs 70 (approximately RMB 7.3), 20 W LED tubes at Rs 220 (approximately RMB 23) and Rs 1,200 (approximately RMB 125). Ceiling fans.

So far, under the Ujala project, India has distributed more than 255 million rupees of LED bulbs, more than 306,000 LED tubes and about 1.15 million energy-saving fans.

According to estimates of the Indian Ministry of Electric Power, the project will save 340 billion kilowatt hours of electricity per year, accumulatively reducing consumer costs by 133.46 billion rupees.
